Harry J. ‘Buck’ Howell

MIFFLINTOWN – Harry J. “Buck” Howell, 86, of 155 Village Drive, Mifflintown, and formerly of Crystal Springs Avenue, Lewistown, died at 11:42 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at his home.

Born July 10, 1926, in Decatur Township, he was a son of the late Ralph and Nellie (Krick) Howell.

He is survived by: his wife, C. Almeda (Price) Howell, whom he married on Aug. 1, 1949; his sons, H. Donald Howell, of Lewistown, Michael D. Howell Sr., of Lewistown, and Guy L. Howell and wife, Tracy, of Arch Rock; five grandchilren; two great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Stitt, of Lewistown.

He was preceded in death by: a son, Frederick W. Howell, in 1971; his brothers, Albert “Snap” Howell and Brian Howell; and his sisters, Ralphetta Bowersox and Violet Goss.

Early in life, Harry was employed at Cupp Motor Company, Erb’s Body Shop and Brower Trucking. He was then employed as a mechanic for 27 years, from 1956 to 1983, at Noerr Trucking.

He was a member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church.

Harry enjoyed time with his family and going hunting.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Dormantown Lutheran Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
