Roy E. Steele
McVEYTOWN – Roy E. Steele, 64, of Stanley’s Road, McVeytown, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at his home.
Born April 3, 1949, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Alameda (Edwards) Steele. His wife, Velma J. (Weaver) Steele, whom he married Jan. 1, 1973, survives.
Also surviving are: four children, Lee Phillips, James Phillips, of Burnham, Roy I. Steele, of McVeytown, and Amy Moore and husband, Glenn, of Burnham; five siblings, Elsie Kauffman and husband, Roy, of Milroy, Dorothy Wolfe, of Newport, Robert Steele and wife, Carmen, Betty Snook, and Patricia Bingaman and husband, Ronald, all of Lewistown; and six grandchildren, Brittany, Justin, Brandon, Bryson, Glenn and Joseph.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Anthony Quinn Steele Weaver.
Employed at Allensville Planing Mill in Lewistown, he retired in 2012.
Roy enjoyed fishing, refinishing furniture and fixing anything that needed to be fixed for his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Ferguson Valley Brethren in Christ Church, with Pastor Kenneth Grove officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown.
