Oscar E. ‘Ozzie’ Hower III

MEXICO – Oscar E. “Ozzie” Hower III, 66, of Mexico, Pa., died on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at his home.

Born on Sept. 19, 1946, in Derry Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Oscar E. “Ozzie” Jr. and Letitia M. “Tish” (Wert) Hower.

Surviving are: a sister, Sandra L. (Welshonse) Frymoyer and her husband, Marlin “Butch,” of Mifflintown; a nephew, Jason Welshonse and his wife, Jeannie, of Brockport; a niece, Letitia M. Yoder and her husband, Kenneth, of Mifflintown; and he leaves behind five great-nieces and -nephews, Lukas Yoder, Samantha Yoder, Ava Welshonse, Ricky Delia and Zack Delia.

One brother-in-law, James H. “Jim” Welshonse, preceded him in death.

Mr. Hower was a 1965 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, was a member of Mexico United Presbyterian Church as well as a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 925, Millerstown.

In earlier life, he was employed by Mexico Forge, Milroy, for 26 years, and later worked for Leidy Chevrolet/Oldsmobile, Mifflintown.

Ozzie’s interests included NASCAR and baseball.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Crystal M. Lyde officiating. Interment will follow in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.

There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday, at the funeral home.
