Dorothy I. ‘Dottie’ Wharton

MIFFLINBURG – Dorothy I. “Dottie” Wharton, 73, of Mifflinburg, formerly of McVeytown, went to be with the Lord at 2:36 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Sept. 5, 1939, in Kistler, she was a daughter of the late George C. and Virginia D. (Snyder) Soult. Her husband, Earl F. Wharton, whom she married Oct. 31, 1970, survives.

Also surviving are a brother, George Soult, of McVeytown, and a stepsister, Judy Rynkewitz and husband, Stephen, of Lewistown.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton Soult.

Employed as a receptionist at the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11, in McVeytown, she retired in 2001.

Dottie was a very active member of the Mifflinburg Alliance Church and a former member of the Atkinson Mills United Methodist Church, in McVeytown. She was also a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, in Mount Union.

If you asked Dottie how she was, her response was always “super duper.” In this way, she became known to many as “Super Duper Dottie.”

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, with Pastors Leslie Conklin and Glen Bayley officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
