Valerie A. Hostler
MIFFLINTOWN – Valerie A. Hostler, 42, of Mifflintown, died at 11:56 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
Born Feb. 20, 1971, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of Allen R. and the late Louise E. (Lauver) Glick. On Aug. 28, 1993, she married Casey S. Hostler, with whom she shared nearly 20 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by: her daughter, Holly L. Hostler, at home; her stepmother, Carolyn Glick, of Mifflintown; one sister, Donna M. Saner and her husband, John, of Mifflintown; two brothers, Neil M. Glick and his wife, Gretchen, of Mifflintown, and Nevin M. Glick and his wife, Heidi, of McAlisterville; her father and mother-in-law, Robert and Betty Hostler, of Mexico, Pa.; one stepbrother, Corey Weaver and his wife, Jessica, of Philadelphia; one stepsister, Alison Mumma and her husband, David, of Stevens; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hostler served side by side with her husband, Casey, in his ministry as they started the Heaven Bound Church. She was also very active serving as the church office manager, song leader, Bible study leader and Sunday school teacher.
In earlier life, Valerie was employed by IGA Foodliner, Mifflintown, then in the bookkeeping department of Juniata Valley Bank, main office, and currently performed the office duties for their family business, Hostler’s Custom Woodworks.
Her many talents included sewing, painting, crafts and card making. She also loved to hunt and was a people person, being a loving wife, mother, daughter and friend.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Oakland Mills, with Pastor Glenn Hosler officiating. Interment will follow in Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013, and again from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Friday, at the Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Oakland Mills.
