Jonathan R. Zook

BELLEVILLE – Jonathan R. Zook, 84, of 267 Rockville Road, Belleville, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at his home.

Born Oct. 29, 1928, in Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Joseph A. and Barbara Z. (Byler) Zook. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary R. (Yoder) Zook, on March 11, 1983, and his second wife, Nancy B. (Wengerd) Zook, on Sept. 1, 2008.

He is survived by: children, Barbara R. Peachey, of Belleville, Mary R. Peachey and husband, Elmer Lee, of Belleville, Ruthann H. Swarey and husband, John, of Belleville, Joseph G. Zook and wife, Lena, of Rebersburg, Lydia S. Byler and husband, Sam, of Belleville, Salinda M. Kanagy and husband, Levi, of Belleville, Susie A. Peachey and husband, Ben, of Belleville, Mark C. Zook and wife, Barbara, of Belleville, and Jonas J. Zook and wife, Katie, of Belleville; daughter-in-law, Julia A. Zook, of Allensville; son-in-law, Jacob C. Swarey and wife, Susan M., of Belleville; siblings, Katie Detweiler, of Belleville, Lydia Byler, of Belleville, Ben Y. Zook and wife, Katie, of Belleville, and Joe. C. Zook, of Meyerstown; 86 grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; 214 great -grandchildren; 25 stepgreat-grandchildren; 10 sisters-in-law; and eight brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by: two daughters, Ada Zook and Katie Swarey; a son, Jonathan L. Zook; a stillborn son; a son-in-law, Shem Peachey; two grandchildren; a brother; and two stillborn great-grandchildren.

Jonathan was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at the Abraham Peachey residence, 241 Rockville Road, Belleville. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the John Swarey residence, 267 Rockville Road, Belleville.
