John Henry Sheetz
HARTFORD, Conn. – John Henry Sheetz, 75, the husband of Rita E. (Wilson) Sheetz, died Friday, March 8, 2013, at Hartford Hospital.
John was born in Burnham, the son of Samuel and Anna (Krist) Sheetz and lived in Bolton, Conn. for 44 years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
John retired from the AT&T Corp. in 1989, ending his career as a supervising foreman for the New England, New York and New Jersey areas.
After retirement, he began a second career as a plumber.
An active member of St. Maurice Church, he was a Eucharistic minister and an usher.
John was an avid golfer and was a member of the Tallwood Men’s Club.
Besides his wife, Rita, he is survived by: his children, Lori M.S. Walker, of Redding, John W. Sheetz and his wife, Christine, of Cumberland, Maine, William J. Sheetz and his wife, Teresa, of Prospect, and Elizabeth A. Sledjeski and her husband, Lee, of John’s Creek, Ga.; his sister, Bonnie Peters and her husband, Walter, of Burnham; his brother, Richard Sheetz and his wife, Joan, of Milroy; and 13 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at St. Maurice Church, 32 Hebron Road, Bolton, Conn.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, Conn.
