Jessie Mae McKeehan

YEAGERTOWN – Jessie Mae McKeehan, 86, of 124 N. Mann Ave., Yeagertown, went to be with the Lord at 5:50 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at Valley View Haven, Belleville.

She was born April 5, 1926, in Reedsville, to the late Robert W. and Frances Ferne (Spickler) Romig.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Jesse S. McKeehan Jr., in 2007; her son, Jesse S. McKeehan III, in 2010; and a brother, Robert W. Romig.

She is survived by: her daughter, K. Holly Thompson and husband, Tom, of Reedsville; a daughter-in-law, Sandra G. McKeehan, of Carlisle; grandchildren, Jillian S. Newcomer and husband, Matt, and Jesse S. (Mak) McKeehan IV and wife, Val; great-grandchildren, Robbie and Elena Newcomer; and her sister, Anna Wilson.

Jessie graduated from Derry Township High School in 1945. In 1948, she married Jesse and made a life-long commitment to homemaking. She particularly enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends.

Jessie was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church, in Yeagertown, for more than 55 years, serving in many capacities: Sunday school teacher, church council, choir and social ministry. She was also a member of ELCA and the Knotty Ladies, the church quilting group. Witnessing for Jesus and serving others were among her greatest blessings.

Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, North Main Street, Yeagertown, with the Rev. Philip C. Tundel officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, at the church.
