Gary S. Snook

LEWISTOWN- Gary S. Snook, of Third Street, Pleasant Acres, Lewistown, transcended this world and received a new life and body in Christ at 12:17 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born on July 17, 1949, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Lester S. and Mildred I. (Smith) Snook. On June 21, 1979, he married his present wife and best friend, Edna L. (Smith) Snook.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two sons, Aaron M. Snook, of Lewistown, and Joseph S. Snook, of Boulder, Colo.; brother, Ronny Snook and companion, Deb Betlyon, of Burnham; mother-in-law, Phyllis Smith, of Elmcroft; brothers-in-law, Rodger Smith and wife, Carol, of Bellefonte, Lonnie “Leon” Smith and wife, Deb, of New Jersey, and Joel Smith and wife, Deb, of Mechanicsburg; sister-in-law, Lynn Smith and her companion, Cheri Williams, of Raleigh, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by an infant son, Jared M. Snook.

Gary was a 1967 graduate of Chief Logan High School and earned a degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University in 1971.

He was recently employed as a business assistant at Tuscarora Intermediate Unit. Gary also worked as a controller for Mann Edge Tool Company, bookkeeper and accountant for Noerr Motor Freight, accountant for Boyer and Ritter, CPAs and also worked for the Pennsylvania State Department.

Gary was all about loyalty, love and laughter. Friends and people were always his number one priority. He enjoyed racquetball, tennis, pingpong, pool, darts, cards and the morning crossword. Celtics basketball, Penn State football and sports in general were the things he enjoyed watching on TV.

Club memberships included Walnut Springs Racquet Club, Juniata Valley YMCA, First United Methodist Church, lifetime member of the Burnham Fire House and the Burnham Lions Club.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Heller- Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 200 Third St., Lewistown.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.
