Ethel G. Brown

ORBISONIA – Ethel G. Brown, 92, formerly of 2450 state Route 103 North, Lewistown, died at 9:27 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Woodland Retirement Community, Orbisonia.

Born July 11, 1920, in Three Springs, she was a daughter of the late Herbert A. and Merla G. (Lane) Whitsel.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Samuel C. Brown, on Sept. 12, 1999; a daughter, Rosene Harshbarger; brothers, James, Ernest and Harry and an infant brother, Max Whitsel; and sisters, Vera Roher and Mary Ann Gibson.

Ethel is survived by: her children, Donald V. Brown and wife, Judy, of Spanaway, Wash., Samuel H. Brown and wife, Jean, of Fairbanks, Alaska, Bernadette Heister and husband, Ronald, of McVeytown, Timothy C. Brown and wife, Jane, of Lewistown, and Randall L. Brown and wife, Wendy, of Mapleton Depot; son-in -law, Charles Harshbarger, of Lewistown; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

She is also survived by her brother, Ronald Whitsel and wife, Audrey, of Three Springs, and her sister, Catherine Stout, of Mifflintown.

Ethel was employed by the Arrow Shirt Factory and at Corkins’ Restaurant, in Lewistown.

She was a member of Pine Glen Church of the Brethren.

Ethel enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, flowers, cooking, music and travelling.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Donald Peters officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana.

Her family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
