Dennis L. Hoffman
McCLURE – Dennis L. Hoffman, 67, of Schoch Street, passed away at 10 a.m. on March 15, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 17, 1945, in Lewistown, a son of the late Merle A. and Grace A. (Hoffman) Hoffman. On April 29, 1967, he married Elizabeth R. “Jane” (Folk) Hoffman, who survives.
Dennis was a 1963 graduate of West Snyder High school.
He served in the Army National Guard, during the Vietnam War, until 1971.
Mr. Hoffman was previously employed at Standard Steel, in Burnham, retiring in 2007.
He attended First United Methodist Church, in McClure.
Dennis was a member of the American Legion Post 942, in McClure, and also the West End Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed hunting and spending time at his cabin in the mountains and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: two sons, Craig A. Hoffman and his fiancee, Stephanie Burkey, of Beaver Springs, and Corey L. Hoffman, and wife, Adrienne, of McClure; five grandchildren, Samantha and Zachary Hoffman and Destiny, Angel and Colleen Burkey; and two sisters, Nancy Peterson and Linda Baker.
He was preceded in death by: one grandson, Tyler Hoffman; two brothers, Ronald Hoffman and William Stratford; and one sister, Sandra L. Rhodes.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, in McClure, with the Rev. Kathy Mercado officiating.
Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.
