Clara B. Rakerd
LEWISBURG – Clara B. Rakerd, 92, of Riverwoods Senior Living Community, Lewisburg, and formerly of McAlisterville, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Riverwoods.
Born on June 14, 1920, in Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Cloyd B. and Mintie (Taylor) Buckley. Her husband of 43 years, Merle F. Rakerd, preceded her in death on March 24, 1983.
Surviving are: two children, Merle Rakerd and his wife, Janet, of Mifflinburg, and Linda Kay Bauer and her husband, Wayne, of Brookville, Ind.; and she leaves behind four grandsons; two granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Carole L. Fogelsonger; two grandchildren, Aline Fogelsonger and Johnny Fogelsonger; three brothers; and four sisters.
Mrs. Rakerd was a member of Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, Bunkertown.
Clara was a homemaker and enjoyed helping others, volunteering her service as one of the “gray ladies,” visiting local nursing homes and helping with American Red Cross blood drives. She enjoyed baking, flowers and gardening; however, her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with Pastor Greg Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.
A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday, at the funeral home.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly asks that memorial contributions in Mrs. Rakerd’s memory be made to her church, Bunkertown Church of the Bretheren, 52 Bunkertown Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
