Rev. Guy R. Hockenberry
RICHFIELD – Rev. Guy R. Hockenberry, 81, of 20 Gray Lane, Richfield, died at 1:35 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont.
He was born on July 10, 1931, in Mount Union, a son of the late William and Helen (Myers) Hockenberry. His first wife, Doris H. (Beam) Hockenberry, preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2002. His second wife, Shirley L. (Moad) (Strawser) Hockenberry, whom he married on July 10, 2004, survives.
He also is survived by: children, Lesa Moist and husband, Franklin, of Lewistown, and Heath Hockenberry and wife, Lori, of Boise, Idaho; two brothers, Danny and Billy; one sister, Erma; stepdaughters, Eileen Hoffman and Ann Hoffman, both of Richfield; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin G. Hockenberry, on May 11, 1994.
He was a graduate of Mount Union High School and Nyack Bible College, where he had been a “light’s out” guard on the basketball team.
He had also worked for the Daily Item, in Sunbury, and Bingaman and Sons Lumber Co.
Guy was a minister for more than 50 years, licensed under the CMA.
He had ministered at Reedsville CMA Church, Wayside Bible Church, Salem Independent Bible Church, in Middleburg, and at the Village Chapel, in Donnelly Mills, where he retired in 2008.
His life was dedicated to the Lord, to his church and to his congregation.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at Pine Glen CMA Church, state Route 103, Lewistown, with Pastor George Sheaffer officiating.
Friends will be received from 1:30 until 2 p.m. Sunday, at the church.
Interment will be private at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville.
