Harold E. ‘Stony’ Wolfgang

BELLEVILLE – Harold E. “Stony” Wolfgang, 92, of Valley View Terrace, Belleville, and formerly of Locust Street, Burnham, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born Dec. 26, 1920, in Lewistown, Stony was the son of the late Franklin C. and Hazel L. (Crisswell) Wolfgang.

He was preceded in death by: his wife of 50 years, Louise Fultz Wolfgang, on Oct. 14, 2000; his brothers, Lester, Paul and Robert Wolfgang; and a niece, Joann L. (Fultz) Singleton.

He is survived by: his daughter, Toni R. Ufema Kaijala, of Hubbardston, Mass; a number of nieces and nephews, including Steven Fultz, Marsha (Fultz) Maines, Beth (Fultz) Sheetz and their families; his companion of 12 years, Florence Harpster, of Jackson’s Corner; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was a graduate of Burnham High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a sergeant in World War II. He was employed at Standard Steel Works until his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, a lifetime member of the Shawnee Archers, a member of the Boy Scouts and Civic Club, at McAlevy’s Fort.

Stony was a loving husband, outstanding father, grandfather, great-grandfather and, without a doubt, the best uncle. He loved the outdoors, fly fishing, fourwheeling, bowhunting, Bingo on Friday nights and his dog, Belle.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Heller- Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., with the Rev. Gerald Peachey officiating. Interment will be held in Juniata Memorial Park, with graveside military rites conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

His family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
