Eli M. Wengerd
BELLEVILLE – Eli M. Wengerd, 77, of 217 Iris Lane, Belleville, died at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at his residence.
Born Jan. 14, 1936, in Wayne County, Ohio, he was a son of the late Menno D. and Mattie B. (Weaever) Wengerd. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. (Zook) Wengerd, on March 31, 2012.
He is survived by: children, Lydia E. Yoder and husband, Isaac, of Belleville, Menno E. Wengerd and wife, Miriam, of Belleville, Mattie E. Yoder and husband, Noah, of Allensville, Joseph E. Wengerd and wife, Gertie, of Belleville, Andy E. Wengerd and wife, Nancy, of Tyrone, Mary E. Swarey and husband, Joshua, of Altoona, Fannie E. Yoder and husband, Samuel, of Beaver, Ohio, Lena E. Kanagy and husband, Tobias, of Belleville, Eli E. Wengerd and wife, Martha, of Tyrone, Sarah E. Kanagy and husband, Leroy, of Beaver, Ohio, Sylvia E. Yoder and husband, Albert, of Beaver, Ohio, and John E. Wengerd and wife, Julia, of Belleville; siblings, Aden M. Wengerd, Daniel M. Wengerd, John M. Wengerd, Ada M. Kanagy and Fanie M. Beiler; 83 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: a son, David. E. Wengerd; one brother; two sisters; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was a retired farmer and carpenter.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at 150 Iris Lane, Belleville. Burial will be held in Allensville Mennonite-Amish Cemetery.
A viewing will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the home.
