William M. ‘Bill’ Dill

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – William M. “Bill” Dill, 81, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in Newport News, Va.

A native of Yeagertown, he had been a resident of Newport News, Va., for 42 years.

Having been awarded the Bronze Star Medal in the Korean War and serving two tours in Vietnam, he retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years of honorable service. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, Chapter 191 and a member of Warwick Memorial Methodist Church.

Mr. Dill is survived by: his wife of 59 years, Phyllis (Horton) Dill; two sons, William M. (Margie) Dill Jr. and Steven Michael (Julie) Dill; three daughters, Terry L. Etheridge, Brenda L. Jackson and Michelle L. (Michael) Lipscomb; his brother, Kenneth (Dorothy) Dill; a sister, Winifred “Winnie” McCardle; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Warwick Memorial Methodist Church Building Fund.
