John C. Shehan
McCLURE – John C. Shehan, 82, of McClure died at 8:38 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born on Oct. 17, 1930, in Strodes Mills, he was the son of the late James and Sarah (Rowe) Shehan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one brother, George Shehan; son-in-law, Brian Moyer; sister-in-law, Pat Shehan; brother-in-law, Marvin Goss; and stepgranddaughter, Mitzi Wethington.
John is survived by: his wife of 61 years, Nancy (Colabine) Shehan, whom he married on Dec. 22, 1951; children, Deborah Moyer, of Ishpeming, Mich., Jeffery Shehan and companion, Sandy Lucas, and Michael Shehan and companion, Ann Opdyke, both of McClure; sister, Frances Goss, of Lewistown; sister-in-law, Arlene Shehan, of Lewistown; three grandchildren, Adam Thomas and wife, Carol, Bridget Panchert and husband, Jamie, and Jennifer Shehan; two stepgrandchildren, Maria Wade and husband, Scott, and Michelle Pascoe; four great- grandchildren, Madison, Katelyn, Gabriel and Emily; six stepgreat- grandchildren, Elijah and Monique and their father, Sylvestor, Brian, Tiffany, Marina, and Michael.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
John was a member of Strodes Mills Baptist Church, Moose, McClure Fire Co., McClure Quick Response Team and was a West Beaver Township supervisor.
Early in life, he drove truck and worked as a mechanic for Cupp Motor Co., in Lewistown, Blair Gray Ford, American Viscose Corp. and George Shehan Construction. He was owner/operator of Shehan’s Ford Tractors from 1982 to 1989 and then worked part time at Shehan’s Sales & Service, as well as being a farmer for most of his life.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Darvin Donahey officiating.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Mount Rock Cemetery.
