George E. ‘SuperGeorge’ Gingerich

LEWISTOWN – George E. “SuperGeorge” Gingerich, 73, of 43 Valley St., Lewistown, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at his home.

Born Dec. 19, 1939, in Burnham, he was the son of the late Rufus E. and Edna G. (Graham) Gingerich.

George is survived by: his children, Johnathan Earl Hammil, Jodie Hammil and Kim Gingerich; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois M. and Frances Hutchison, and an infant sister.

George was a graduate of Chief Logan High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the reserves from 1974 to 1995.

He was employed at Standard Steel, in Burnham.

He was a member of the Parkview Church of the Brethren, American Legion Post 90, NRA-ILA, ASPCA and VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., with the Rev. Ronald Stacey officiating. Interment will be held in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville, where graveside military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

His family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at the funeral home.
