Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Lynch Wilhelm

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” Lynch Wilhelm, 94, a resident of Greensboro, N.C., died Tuesday Jan. 8, 2013, at her residence.

Mrs. Wilhelm was born July 12, 1918, in Lewistown, the daughter of Albert and Bessie (Caldwell) Lynch.

She was a member of the graduating Class of 1936 at Lewistown High School. She graduated magna cum laude from Catawba College in 1940 where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Betty first taught in the Rowan County and Salisbury schools. After moving to Greensboro she worked for several years at UNC-G and later taught the 5th grade in the Greensboro public schools. She was a long time standing member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Harold Wilhelm.

She is survived by her nephew, Timothy Lynch, of California, and nieces, Shirley Kauffman, Jean Walker and Sandy Lynch of Pennsylvania, among others.

At her request, there will be no public services held.

Her ashes will be inurned beside her husband at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue and Foster Program, 705 Milner Drive, Greensboro, NC 27417.
