Schrader UMC to host special speaker

REEDSVILLE — Schrader United Methodist Church will host Rick Bender as a speaker at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 25.

East Kishacoquillas celebrates 200 years

MILROY — The East Kishacoquillas Lutheran Parish will celebrate 200 years with an 11 a.m. worship service on Aug. 25 at Reeds Gap State Park, New Lancaster Valley, Pavilion 2. It will be followed by lunch at 12:30 p.m. The East Kishacoquillas Lutheran Parish 200 year history program will be held at 2:30 p.m. Chicken will be provided by the parish for lunch. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish to share, their own drinks, lawn chairs and bug spray. Transportation is available to those needing a ride.

Windy Hill church hosts hymn sing

BURNHAM — Windy Hill Bible Church will host its monthly hymn sing 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 25 with fellowship and snacks to follow. All are welcome.

Good Shepherd Club to begin Sept. 6

YEAGERTOWN — Children from kindergarten to age 12 will be able to join the Good Shepherd Club at Yeagertown United Methodist Church. The first session will be held 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6. The club will continue meeting each Friday during school. The hour will be filled with time for refreshments, a biblical lesson and an activity.

Ministerium to host Christian concert

MOUNT UNION — Pastor Adam Shawver in conjunction with the Mount Union Ministerium, will hold a Christian/Gospel concert at 6 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Solid Rock Church Wellness Center in Mount Union. Special music will be provided by Paul Zook and friends, which include a variety of singers from the Huntingdon and Mifflin county communities and churches.

The Solid Rock Church Wellness Center is located at the corner of North Jefferson and W. Walnut streets. The event is open to the public and there is no charge. A free will offering will be accepted. Homemade ice cream, pies, hot dogs, cookies and other refreshments will be served.

Churches to host joint picnic Sept. 8

LEWISTOWN — Rhodes Memorial and Yeagertown United Methodist Charge will host Jeremy Goodling at Kish Park at 11 a.m. Sept. 8. All are invited to the 10 a.m. coffee social hour, followed by the service at noon with the tureen meal.

Sacred Heart to host Bible study

LEWISTOWN — Sacred Heart of Jesus Church will present an adult Bible study at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10 in the church office at 9 N. Brown St., Lewistown. They will meet every Tuesday until Nov. 12. No class will be held Oct. 22. The subject will be the Patriarchs. All are welcome.

Missions Rally

scheduled in Belleville

BELLEVILLE — A Missions Rally will be held in the Belleville area on Sunday, Sept. 15. In the morning, a number of missionaries and ministry leaders be share in several different congregations in Big Valley. From noon to 1 p.m. a free lunch will be held at Belleville Mennonite School.

Following lunch, local ministry leaders and mission’s representatives will have information at tables around the gym. Attendees can connect with various ministry leaders and workers to learn about how God is at work in the community and around the world. In the evening, M. Parveen, a former Muslim from Bangledesh who moved to New York City and became a follower of Jesus, will be sharing her story at Locust Grove Mennonite Church in a service starting at 7 p.m.

Freedom Avenue UMC to host coffee house

BURNHAM — Freedom Avenue United Methodist Church will hold a coffee house at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19. Entertainment for the evening will be Doug Romig. Snacks will be provided and a free will offering will be taken.

Reedsville UMC hosts movie night Sept. 15

REEDSVILLE — Reedsville United Methodist Church, 60 E. Logan St., Reedsville, will host a free movie night at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15. The movie, “Breakthrough” will be shown. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Ken Ham to speak at Penn Stater

STATE COLLEGE — Ken Ham, CEO of the Answers in Genesis Ministry, will speak at the Penn Stater Hotel and conference Center in State College 7 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 20. Answers in Genesis runs the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter just south of Cincinnati in northern Kentucky. Nearly four million people have visited the museum since its opening in 2009 and two million have visited the Ark Encounter, a full-size reproduction of Noah’s Ark, since it opened less than three years ago.

Ham defends the Bible starting with the book of Genesis and he will speak on “Thinking Foundationally: How to Communicate to a Secularized Culture.” Space is limited and early ticket purchases are encouraged. Tickets may be ordered at wtlr.org. Information: (814) 237-9857.

Stony Run to host

tractor service

RICHFIELD — Stony Run Mission Church will host its tractor service beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 22 at Basom Memorial Park with the Wehry family. Lunch will follow at 11 a.m. with soup provided. Bring a side dish, dessert and drink to share. The tractor rie will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring their tractors and lawn chairs to church. Rain date is Sept. 29.

True Heart to perform during joint service

MILROY — A combined worship service will be held at Milroy United Methodist Church, 91 S. Main St., Milroy. The singing group True Heart will perform on Sept. 29. Worship is at 10 a.m. followed by potluck lunch with the band. A free will offering will be received as well as regular church offering.

PORT ROYAL — Port Royal United Methodist Church will host a Children’s Rally Sunday Program with Bill Meck at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sept. 29. Matamoras United Methodist Church will hold the program at 9:30 a.m.
