Juniata County Fair to hold worship service

PORT ROYAL — Juniata County Fair will hold a rain or shine worship service at 4:30 p.m., Sept. 2. The event will be held under a large tent located on the upper Juniata County Fairgrounds in the area of the George Settlemyer livestock building adjacent to 8th Street.

Juniata County ministerium members and pastors will lead the community worship service. Special music will be provided by combined Juniata High School and East Juniata High School students brass players. Bring a lawn chair.

It is suggested to arrive at 4 p.m. to secure a parking space. A free will offering will be collected to support the Juniata County Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels.

Individuals attending the worship service will receive reimbursement for fair admission following the completion of the event. Attending worship service members will exchange their fairgrounds admission ticket for cash reimbursement.

No service held at McAlisterville church

McALISTERVILLE — Stony Run Mission Church will not have a Sunday school or evening service on Sept. 2. Worship service will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Special chapel music planned Sunday

LEWISTOWN — The Locust Waterside Campground Chapel behind the Industrial Park will end its special summer chapel services at 10 a.m., Sept. 2. Singer Paul Zook will provide a program of inspirational music for the ending service. Special music Sundays will begin again June 2, 2019. Campers and the public are invited to attend. There is no charge.

Sacred Heart to

host Bible study

LEWISTOWN — Adult Bible study will begin at 7 p.m., Sept. 4 in the Parish office at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Lewistown, 9 N. Brown St. The class will study the book of Job. Revival Tent Meetings held in Lewistown

LEWISTOWN — Revival Tent Meetings featuring Remington Ryde will be at Paintersville Christian and Missionary Alliance 7 p.m., Sept 6 and 7 and 5:30 p.m. Sept. 8. There will be a free pig roast on Saturday. The meal will be at 5:30 p.m.

Food will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis with a 7 p.m. service to follow. Children’s ministry each night includes nursery through third grade. A love offering will be accepted. Pine Glen CMA hosts grief recovery group

LEWISTOWN — GriefShare, a faith-based seminar and support group, will be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m for 13 weeks, from Sept. 6 to Nov. 29. The group will meet weekly on Thursday evenings at Pine Glen Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. The church is located at 1058 state Route 103 north, Lewistown.

The group will be led by individuals who want to help others process pain and loss. You will gain access to GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life. Seminar sessions include, “Is this normal,” “The challenges of grief,” “Grief and your relationships,” “Why?” and Guilt and Anger.”

Biblical storytelling held at Kish Park

LEWISTOWN — Bob Booz, of Centre County, will present his Biblical storytelling program on Sept. 9. Join the Rhodes Memorial and Yeagertown United Methodist churches at the green pavilion at Kish Derry Park. Coffee hour will begin at 10 a.m. and the service starts at 11 a.m., followed by a meal.

Free movie night at Reedsville UMC

REEDSVILLE — “God’s not Dead: A Light in Darkness” will be shown at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 9 at Reedsville United Methodist Church, 60 E. Logan St., Reedsville. The movie will be free to the public. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.

Outdoor gospel concert planned Middleburg

MIDDLEBURG — St. Paul’s (Erdley’s) Lutheran Church, 2337 Erddley Church Road, Middleburg, will hold an outdoor gospel concert in the picnic grove on Sept. 9. Discussion on creation versus evolution slated

STATE COLLEGE — A panel of four board members who attended one of two conferences held over the summer on the topic of creation versus evolution — the 2018 Creation Super Conference, held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and the 2018 International Conference on Creation — will hold a panel presentation on creation versus evolution. The presentation will be held at 7 p.m., Sept. 13 at the First Baptist Church, 647 Valley Vista Dr., State College.

LEWISTOWN — The annual Service of Intercession will be held at Ohev Shalom Cemetery at 2 p.m. Sept. 16. Yizkor will be recited during the morning service for Yom Kippur at Sept. 19 and the morning service of Shemini Atzeret on Oct. 1.
