Pastor presents Lenten Bible study series

YEAGERTOWN — Pastor Carola Beasley-Topliffe will present Lenten Bible studies, using “Leading a Grace-Full Life,” at 7 p.m. weekly on Wednesdays, through April 5. The group will be held in the downstairs social hall of Yeagertown United Methodist Church.

Men’s breakfasts to be held in Port Royal

PORT ROYAL — The following speakers will lead Port Royal Men’s Lenten Pray Breakfasts, set for 7 a.m. at the Port Royal Community Building:

¯Today — Rev. Chris Mathiason, of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church;

Methodist men to meet for breakfasts

LEWISTOWN — United Methodist men’s prayer breakfasts will be held at 7:30 a.m. on the following dates:

¯April 1 — Lake Park United Methodist Church, Lewistown;

¯April 8 — Granville United Methodist Church.

Series brings music to Mifflin County churches

LEWISTOWN — The Burnham Derry Ministerium will hold a Lenten Coffeehouse Series, beginning with a performance by David Hartsock on March 5 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church on Electric Avenue. The social gathering begins at 6:30 p.m., and music begins at 7 p.m. There will be a minister’s message in between music and a closing prayer.

Future events will be held at the same time on the following dates:

¯Today — The Hayride Gospel Band, at Vira United Methodist Church;

¯March 26 — Maitland Brethren Bell Choir, at Maitland Church of the Brethren;

¯April 2 — Brush Mountain Band, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Alfarata:

¯April 9 — Unusual Suspect String Band, at Ellen Chapel Church, Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown.

Lenten teas set for each Tuesday in Lent

PORT ROYAL — Port Royal Community Lenten Teas will be held at 10 a.m. each Tuesday in Lent and will be hosted by the Port Royal Presbyterian Church. The theme is “They Knew How to Pray.”

Events are set for the following dates:

¯Tuesday — Pastor Nancy McClure will speak about the prayer life of Hannah;

¯March 28 — Ted Kepner will speak about the prayer life of David;

¯April 4 — Skip Kepner will speak about the prayer life of Paul;

¯April 11 — Pastor Crystal Lyde will speak on the topic “Your Prayer Life.”

Garments of Praise

McALISTERVILLE — Garments of Praise will sing at 10:15 a.m. Sunday at Stony Run Mission in McAlisterville.

Carpenter to speak, sing on Sunday

LEWISTOWN — The Rev. Bernard Carpenter will be speaking and singing during a worship service set for 10:30 a.m. Sunday at First Church of the Brethren, 134 Shaw Ave., Lewistown.

Canadian choir visiting Beth-El Mennonite

BELLEVILLE — Tribute of Praise Choir will present a program of singing at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Beth-El Mennonite Church, 1150 Front Mountain Road, Belleville. The choir is from Ontario, Canada.

Prayer vigils set for February, March

McVEYTOWN — McVeytown United Methodist Church will hold a prayer vigil from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The church will be open for anyone wanting to pray in the sanctuary. There will be guided material available with a focus topic, however independent prayer is also encouraged.

Families invited to movie night March 31

McALISTERVILLE — There will be a family movie night held March 31 at Bunkertown Church of the Brethren in McAlisterville.

“King’s Faith” will be shown at 7 p.m. The story is about Brendan (Crawford Wilson), who tries to leave his gang life behind, but his past continues to threaten his new faith, family and future.

Sid Bream to speak

at annual spring rally

LEWISTOWN — The 64th annual spring rally at First United Methodist Church in Lewistown will feature guest speaker Sid Bream, former Pittsburgh Pirate and Atlanta Brave baseball player.

The event is set to be held at 7 p.m. April 1 at the church, 200 E. Third St., Lewistown. A hot turkey dinner will be served prior to the event, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children.

Victory Express to sing at Stony Run

McALISTERVILLE — Victory Express will sing at 6 p.m. April 2 at Stony Run Mission in McAlisterville.

Gospel Bond will be in concert Palm Sunday

TROXELVILLE — Gospel Bond will be in concert during a Palm Sunday service set for 7 p.m. April 9 at Grace Reformed Church. A love offering will be collected for the group, and refreshments will be served after the service. Grace Reformed is located at 8170 Troxelville Road, Troxelville. Church to hold special Good Friday service

YEAGERTOWN — “Seven Last Words,” a special church service, will be held at 7 p.m. April 14 in the sanctuary of Yeagertown United Methodist Church, on Mann Ave., behind the firehouse in Yeagertown.

“Thirst Quenchers” to be topic of ladies retreat

RICHFIELD — The annual ladies retreat hosted by Richfield Life Ministries Church is set for April 21-23 at Country Cupboard/Best Western in Lewisburg. McVEYTOWN — An auction to benefit Rachel Heckman’s mission trip to Kenya is set for 10 a.m. April 29 at Wayne United Methodist Church, 46 Millers Quarry Road, McVeytown. There will be food to purchase.
