Curriculum preview to be held this morning

LEWISTOWN — A preview of vacation Bible school curriculum will be held today in the Family Life Center at Calvary Bible Church, 100 Calvary Lane, Lewistown.

The preview will begin with coffee, tea and doughnuts from 9:30 to 9:45 a.m. Presentations of curriculum will take place from 9:45 a.m. until noon.

The event is hosted by Friendship Bookstore.

Church to sponsor sweetheart banquet

BEAVERTOWN — A sweetheart banquet is being sponsored by Evendale Bible Church at 6 p.m. today at Beavertown Fire Hall. The event will include a family-style turkey dinner, special music, skit, games and speaker Glenn Lauver. Cost is $20 per couple. For tickets, call Barb Stroup at 463-3359.

Episcopal bishop to visit Lewistown church

LEWISTOWN — Audrey Scanlan, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennsylvania, will visit St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, in Lewistown, on Sunday.

The church will celebrate the sacraments of baptism and holy communion at 9:30 a.m. A luncheon will be served after worship.

Big Valley BIC to show Billy Graham movie

BELLEVILLE — The Big Valley Brethren in Christ Church, in Belleville, will show the movie “Decisions,” by the Billy Graham Association.

The movie will be viewed at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church, 81 Wagner St., Belleville. There is no cost for the event.

UMC to show ‘Do You Believe?’ on Sunday

REEDSVILLE — A free showing of the movie “Do You Believe?” is planned for 6:30 pm. Sunday at Reedsville United Methodist Church. This movie is from the creators of “God’s Not Dead.” Refreshments will be provided.

Buckner, Chosen Road to visit Stony Run

McALISTERVILLE — Jonathan Buckner and Chosen Road will share in services at 10:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. Feb. 26 at Stony Run Mission in McAlisterville.

Good News Singers

to visit Millerstown

MILLERSTOWN — The Good News Singers will perform at 2 p.m. Feb. 26 at Millerstown United Methodist Church. They will present their latest concert, “Well Seasoned Praise.”

A love offering will be accepted.

The church is located on the corner of Greenwood and High streets. Ample parking is available in lots off of High Street, past the church.

Church to host Ash Wednesday prayer

McVEYTOWN — Ash Wednesday prayer and meditation is encouraged between 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. March 1 at McVeytown United Methodist Church, the tan church on Queen Street in McVeytown. Drop in during any of these time periods. Various stations will be available, along with the imposition of ashes. Spend as much or as little time as you prefer. Communion also will be offered.

Men’s breakfasts to be held in Port Royal

PORT ROYAL — The following speakers will lead Port Royal Men’s Lenten Pray Breakfasts, set for the following dates:

McVEYTOWN — Begin the Lenten season with a family breakfast at 8:30 a.m. March 4 at the McVeytown United Methodist Church, on Queen Street in McVeytown. Check the church’s Facebook page for updates.

Port Royal UMC set to host seminar in March

PORT ROYAL — “Spiritual Gifts,” a seminar to answer the question, “Do you know why you do what you do in church?” will be held from 9 a.m. to noon March 4 at Port Royal United Methodist Church.

To register, mail a form with your name, contact information and church affiliation to Port Royal UMC, c/o Rev. Terry Brosius, P.O. Box 396, Port Royal, PA 17082. Include $5 for lunch. Make checks out to Port Royal UMC.

Rev. Todd Levin to speak in Lewistown

LEWISTOWN — The Rev. Todd Levin, missionary, evangelist and Bible teacher, will visit Light Ministries Church in March.

Special services are set for 6:30 p.m. March 4 and 10 a.m. March 5 at the church, 181 Caldwell Hill Road, Lewistown.

Levin was coordinator of Reach Out for Christ International Ministries in the Czech Republic.

Light Ministries is associated with Rhema Bible Church.

Lenten teas set for each Tuesday in Lent

PORT ROYAL — Port Royal Community Lenten Teas will be held at 10 a.m. each Tuesday in Lent and will be hosted by the Port Royal Presbyterian Church. The theme is “They Knew How to Pray.”

Events are set for the following dates:

¯March 7 — Pastor Terry Brosius will speak about the prayer life of Moses;

¯March 14 — Pastor Caleb Burd will speak about the prayer life of Joshua;

¯March 21 — Pastor Nancy McClure will speak about the prayer life of Hannah;

¯March 28 — Ted Kepner will speak about the prayer life of David;

¯April 4 — Skip Kepner will speak about the prayer life of Paul;

¯April 11 — Pastor Crystal Lyde will speak on the topic “Your Prayer Life.”

JMS to hold faith pledge banquet on March 10

McALISTERVILLE — Juniata Mennonite School will host its annual faith pledge banquet on March 10 at Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, in McAlisterville.

Hours d’evours will be served at 5:30 p.m., and the banquet begins at 6 p.m.

Revival services to be held in McAlisterville

McALISTERVILLE — Revival services are set for 9:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. March 12 at Stony Run Mission in McAlisterville. Leroy Wion will be the evangelist. Services will then be held at 7 p.m. daily through March 15.

McClure church to hold annual rally day

McCLURE — Mount Bethel Church, a Conservative Christian Congregational Church, will hold its annual spring rally day, beginning at 10:15 a.m. March 12. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Charles Stump. Special music will be provided by Molly Bishop.

Re-Creation to sing

at Lutheran church

REEDSVILLE — Re-Creation will sing at 7 p.m. March 12 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Reedsville.

Re-Creation is a group of young people who present religious and family-oriented music and entertainment for Veterans Affairs Medical Centers throughout the United States. The group typically consists of eight singers and one or two technicians.

The group was founded in 1976 and since that time has appeared in churches of all denominations, fairs, festivals, national conventions and banquets, and at major resort areas. Civic clubs, fraternal groups, schools and public and private organizations now keep Re-Creation booked for more than 300 concerts each year in all 50 states.

The public is invited to attend the concert. There is no cost, but a free-will offering will be received.

Stony Run to host Garments of Praise

McALISTERVILLE — Garments of Praise will sing at 10:15 a.m. March 19 at Stony Run Mission in McAlisterville.

‘Thirst Quenchers’ to be topic of ladies retreat

RICHFIELD — The annual ladies retreat hosted by Richfield Life Ministries Church is set for April 21-23 at Country Cupboard/Best Western in Lewisburg.
