Juniata County man faces strangulation charges

RICHFIELD — Scott C. Koehler, 54, is facing a second-degree felony strangulation charge and other related charges.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, at approximately 6:55 p.m. Aug. 17, police received a 911 call from Wendy Koemler. Koemler reported that Koehler entered her bedroom and began arguing with her. The dispute turned physical when Koehler allegedly applied extreme pressure to Koemler’s neck for at least five minutes.

According to police, after Koemler got free, she went to the garage as Koehler followed behind her. She then called 911 as she left the scene in her car.

According to the affidavit, when the police arrived at the scene, Koehler exited the garage and explained the situation to them willingly.

Koehler is facing a second-degree felony for strangulation, a second-degree misdemeanor for simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor for recklessly endangering another person and a harassment charge.

Koehler will be arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Barbara Lyter. He is currently being held at the Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post $50,000 bail.
