JCSD approves routine business

MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata County School District’s Board of Directors took the following action during its regular board meeting Thursday, Aug. 15:

¯Approved a memorandum of understanding with Harrisburg Area Community College for dual enrollment.

¯Approved the purchase of three four-step risers for East Juniata High School at a cost of $7,125.

¯Approved changes to the district’s petty cash policy and student activity funds policy.

¯Approved a list of contracted drivers for the 2019-20 school year.

¯Approved a contract with Geisinger Medical Center for physician and athletic trainer services and Youth Advocate Programs for the provision of Secondary Student Assistance Program mental health liaison services.

¯Approved Roger Osarte Corominas as an exchange student at East Juniata High School for the 2019-20 school year.

¯Approved the resignation of Donald Miller, part-time custodian at Tuscarora Junior High School.

¯Approved the transfer of Debra Maneval from a level 1 paraprofessional at East Juniata Elementary School to a level 2 paraprofessional position, effective Aug. 22.

¯Approved the employment of Joy Leitzel as a level 1 paraprofessional at East Juniata High School at an hourly rate of $10.97.

¯Approved Lori Hopple as part-time custodian at Tuscarora Junior High School at an hourly rate of $11.63.

¯Approved establishing a level 1 paraprofessional position at East Juniata Elementary School and further appointed Anna Brackbill in the position at a rate of $10.97.

¯Approved Holly Bailor and Wendy Hoover as substitute secretaries.

¯Approved Suzanne Burchfield as a long-term substitute agriculture education teacher at Juniata High School on a bachelor’s degree, step 2 of the salary schedule; Heather Dysinger as Juniata Elementary School special education teacher on a bachelor’s degree, step 5 of the salary schedule; Tabbetha VanHorn-Price as a long-term substitute teacher at East Juniata Elementary School on a bachelor’s degree, step 2 of the salary schedule.

¯Approved the following extracurricular positions for the 2019-20 school year: Juniata Elementary School; Julian Wright, SAP Team, $500; Hunter Hart, SAP Team, $500; Amanda Shelley, SAP Team, $500; Kimberly Guiser, SAP Team, $500; Melissa Shepps, SAP Team, $500. East Juniata High School; Shanna Hart, junior varsity field hockey coach, $1,700; Tuscarora Junior High School; Megan Carraher, marching band director, $1,900; Juniata High School; Emily Wagner, junior class play director, $1,280; Sharon Storey, freshman class adviser, $325.

¯Approved Spencer Page as volunteer football coach at Tuscarora Junior High School.
