Council to offer harassment seminar

LEWISTOWN — The Juniata Valley Employer Advisory Council is hosting a “Workplace Harassment” seminar from 8 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Mifflin County CareerLink. This employer event will feature a presentation from guest speakers, Attorneys Todd Shill and Kevin Gold.

Shill and Gold will be updating and discussing the following sub-topics taken directly from their PowerPoint that each attendee will receive at the seminar.

¯Legal retrospective — workplace sexual harassment

¯EEOC select task force report

¯Best practices: Culture

¯Key employment laws…Discrimination/harassment risk factors

¯Protected classes…Disabilities law…Prohibited acts

¯Avoiding retaliation claims

¯Documentation and performance evaluation tips

¯Proper documentation — How important is documentation?

¯Harassment/discrimination evidence

The fee is $25 per person, to be paid at the door only. Registration and a light breakfast will be held from 8 to 8:30 a.m. The guest speaker presentation will begin at 8:30 a.m. A full course catered turkey dinner will be provided to attendees. For human resources personnel, three hours for human resources have been submitted for approval. Questions are welcome at this seminar.
