Fire kills 1 man

ALFARATA — One person died during an early Saturday morning fire in Decatur Township, Decatur Fire Co. Chief Mark Wolfgang told The Sentinel Monday.

Mifflin County Coroner Daniel P. Lynch said 37-year-old Toby R. McGuigan, of York, died in the blaze at a cabin on Wagner Tower Road. Wolfgang said one other person was treated for injuries.

Wolfgang said the Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is investigating the fire that was first reported to emergency responders at 2:47 a.m. Wolfgang said the investigation limits what information he is permitted to release publicly.

According to Mifflin County Emergency Dispatch, Junction Fire Co., Burnham Hose Co., East Derry Fire Co., Reedsville Fire Co., Allensville Fire Co., United Fire and Rescue, City Hook and Ladder, McVeytown Fire Co., Milroy Fire Co., West Granville Fire Co., Yeagertown Fire Co., Granville Fire Co., Belleville Fire Co., FAME EMS and units from Centre County all assisted Decatur Fire Co. on scene.
