MCS Bank honors two as Trustee Emeritus

LEWISTOWN–Kenneth P. Fisher, of Lewistown, has been appointed as Trustee Emeritus of MCS Bank, in an action taken by the bank’s trustees at their annual reorganization meeting February 13, according to Harold Johnson, Chairman of the Board.

In addition to having served as a member of the board, Mr. Fisher was also President of the local financial institution until his recent appointment as trustee emeritus. Fisher’s affiliation with MCS Bank began April 9, 1973 when the bank was known as Mifflin County Savings and Loan Association. He has performed in many capacities over the past 46 years. In July 2005, while serving as Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Fisher was elevated to bank President and Chief Executive Officer, replacing the retiring Walter L. Ciecierski. Upon Fisher’s retirement as CEO in 2009, he continued with his duties as bank president. He has been asked to continue serving in accordance with bank policy as Trustee Emeritus.

Mr. Fisher is an ordained elder and deacon of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church, is a distinguished past president of Lewistown Kiwanis Club, has served in various capacities of the Mifflin-Juniata United Way, and has been a volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 4, sponsored by the Lewistown Presbyterian Church. Upon his retirement as CEO in June 2009 Ken was presented with a commendation from the Pennsylvania Senate for his extraordinary commitment to MCS Bank.

A native of Williamsport, Mr. Fisher attained the rank of sergeant in the United State Marine Corps before embarking on his career in finance and banking. Ken and his wife, Ruth, are the parents of two daughters and one son and grandparents of three. He enjoys woodworking as a hobby.

Walter L. Ciecierski was honored as the first Trustee Emeritus after a lengthy career with MCS Bank. Following graduation from Lewistown High School and three years duty with the United States Army reaching the rank of Specialist 5, he began his banking career in 1968 as assistant manager when the institution was known as Mifflin County Savings and Loan Association. He was named President and CEO in 1993 and continued until his retirement in 2005. During that period, he served a two-year term as board member of the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers.

In 2005 he was further honored by induction in the PACB Hall of Fame for significant service to his community and institution. Walter also received a Congratulatory Document from the Senate of Pennsylvania sponsored by State Senator Jake Corman and a Letter of Congratulation from State Representative Kerry Benninghoff.

Ciecierski is a volunteer member of the Lewistown Parking Authority and has served as its chairman. A long-time member of Lewistown County Club he is also past president of that organization. For a number of years he coached Little League, Pony League, and Babe Ruth Baseball.

Walter and wife, Brenda, reside in Lewistown, and are members of Calvary Bible Church where he is currently worship leader. They are parents to two sons and grandparents of three and great grandparents of one. His hobbies including playing golf, gardening, fishing, and especially deer and turkey hunting with his sons in Alabama.
