Lewistown Area Community Garden plots now available

LEWISTOWN –The Lewistown Area Community Garden, located at 1 Jim Tunall Drive, Lewistown, is now accepting applications for garden plots.

A $20 fee will be charged for each 8-by-4-foot raised bed plot. Included in this fee are access to tools and a water supply on site, plus educational workshops may be provided throughout the season by the Juniata Valley Master Gardeners. The season will run from April 1 through the Friday prior to Thanksgiving.

Both seasoned and beginner gardeners are welcome and are encouraged to participate. The Lewistown Community Garden Board believes gardening is an educational and enriching activity for the whole family.

“By becoming a community gardener, you’re not only providing yourself and your family with access to healthy, fresh food,” said board member Breanne Bailey, “but also deepening the sense of community that is so important to all of us.”

Gardeners are encouraged to get to know each other, to participate in a group work night at least once a month and to learn from one another.
