2019 Kid Connection

LEWISTOWN –Robins in your backyard and budding crocuses aren’t the only sure signs of spring. The 36th annual Kid Connection is just a month away. Organizers have been hard at work lining up the entertainment, the scores of participants, and the many details that are required to run a community event of this size. Last year’s crowd was estimated at 3,000.

“After all of the work that’s put into getting this event off the ground, it’s satisfying to see Market Street filled with people,” said chairman Venus Shade. “Of course, look a little closer and it’s the smiles on each child’s face that really makes it worthwhile.”

The free event is known for its wide variety of activities and entertainment provided by local businesses and non-profit agencies. The targeted age is 2 to 12, although everyone is invited to attend.

“It’s a real family-friendly event,” Shade said, “and a great place to make memories.”

All vendors are asked to contribute, and donations from businesses that aren’t at the event help to defray costs that include the professional entertainment.

This year’s stage schedule includes Mr. Mike’s Dinosaurs, magician Richard Benninghoff, Miss Tillie Balloon Sculptures, and some yet to be announced.

Basic items like paper towels, bottled water and garbage bags are needed every year and the event committee will gladly accept these donations as well.

Vendor applications are being accepted until March 29. Find a form on the Mifflin County Kid Connection Facebook page or call Venus Shade at (717) 250-0959.
