Mifflin County Commissioners meet
LEWISTOWN — During a brief business meeting on Thursday, the Mifflin County Commissioners took the following action:
¯ Adopted an ordinance authorizing the county to enter into an intergovernmental cooperation agreement and authorizing the participation in the Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool. Commissioner Kevin Kodish said the county has been a member for a number of years and the ordinance is a formality to make it official.
¯ Adopted a resolution on behalf of the Derry Township Supervisors approving budget modifications to shift some CDBG funding from 2015 and 2016 for road improvement projects.
¯ Announced the county has received its 2019-20 Crime Victims Services grant in the amount of $132,522.
¯ Rejected the sole bid of $321,000 from Pennsylvania Networks Inc. for a new facility access control system at the correctional facility.
¯ Approved updated signatures on the Commercial Safe-Deposit Agreement with Juniata Valley Bank.
¯ Approved a service and support agreement with Vigilnet Supply to provide probation monitoring equipment for individuals who are on house arrest.
¯ Approved purchase of service agreements for use, if needed, by Children & Youth and the following agencies: Children of the Ark Day Care, Lewistown; Cornell Abraxas Group, Pittsburgh; Harborcreek Youth Services, Harborcreek; The Bair Foundation of Pennsylvania, New Wilmington; Perseus House, Erie; Pentz Run Youth Services, DuBois; NHS Pennsylvania/aka Merakey, Harrisburg; and George Junior Republic in Pennsylvania, Grove City.
¯ Accepted offers for the following parcels that are currently in repository for unsold properties: $750 for a parcel in Granville Township; $300 and $4,000 for parcels in Derry Township; $650 for a parcel in Wayne Township; $275 for a parcel in Oliver Township; and $50 each for two parcels in Lewistown Borough that will be removed as part of the borough’s blight remediation program.
¯ Accepted the resignation of Ashley Murphy, LPN at the correctional facility effective Feb. 3.
¯ Appointed Remmington Derdel as a sheriff intern effective March 18.
¯ Appointed Lexie Kibe as a crime victim services intern effective May 7.
¯ Rescinded the hiring of James Johnson as law clerk.
