Juniata County DA seeks re-election
MIFFLINTOWN–Juniata County District Attorney Cory J. Snook has announced his intention to seek re-election in 2019.
“Serving the citizens of Juniata County as the District Attorney has been a tremendous honor. I look forward to continuing my tough but fair approach to prosecution based on the law and common sense,” he said.
Born and raised in Juniata County, Snook graduated from Juniata High School in 1993. He completed his bachelor’s degree in political science at Lebanon Valley College, and went on to graduate from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University in 2000. Snook was admitted to the practice of law upon passing the bar exam in July, 2000. After practicing law for a firm with offices in Lemoyne and Lewistown and then completing a one-year judicial clerkship with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Snook returned to Juniata County to open his own law office.
Snook was initially elected in November 2009, to be the top law enforcement official in Juniata County. Since taking office, he has prosecuted thousands of criminal and juvenile cases.
“Keeping criminals off the streets is my top priority. With that in mind, we must continue to explore and promote solutions to the opioid epidemic, to include treatment and
rehabilitation. I also look forward to working with Juniata County Probation and Parole to expand the County Intermediate Punishment Program – all while continuing to operate the office under budget.”
Snook has been chosen by his peers to serve as the chairman of the Juniata County Criminal Justice Advisory Board and treasurer of the Juniata County Bar Association. Snook is also a member of the National Rifle Association (Life Member), Ducks Unlimited, Mifflintown Lions Club, Mifflintown Rotary Club (Past President), VFW Crawford-Brubaker Post # 5863 (Social Member) and the Pennsylvania State University Alumni Association.
Snook and his wife, Colleen, live outside of Mifflintown.
