The group will can 34,000 pounds of turkey. Ninety percent of the cans will go to the Mennonite Central Committee’s warehouse for shipment to relief efforts thought out the world. The Association keeps 10 percent of the cans for those in need in central Pennsylvania. The meat will be distributed in March to agencies in central Pennsylvania area, which are spread through the counties of Mifflin, Juniata, Centre, Huntingdon and Blair. Canning will continue from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, followed by cleanup at the East Derry Fire Company. Volunteers are encouraged to schedule times, but walk-ins are welcome and needed.
