Honey Grove man charged with child sexual assault
Police: 59-year-old disclosed abuse of 2 children
PORT ROYAL — A 59-year-old man was charged Thursday after disclosing to police that he had sexually abused two children younger 10 years old, approximately 12 to 15 years ago, according to court documents.
Documents state that Mark E. Oberholtzer, of Honey Grove, admitted to taking the children’s hands while they were sleeping and placing them on his genitals numerous times. Police reportedly interviewed the alleged victims, who corroborated Oberholtzer’s disclosure.
One accuser told police that, from ages 4 to 8, Oberholtzer would enter the juvenile’s bedroom at night and forced the accuser to engage in various sex acts. The other accuser told police that Oberholtzer exposed his genitals and touched under the child’s clothing when the child was 6 years old.
Oberholtzer was charged with a total of eight criminal counts, including four felony sexually based offenses. Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline Leister set bail at $50,000, during Oberholtzer’s preliminary arraignment, and Oberholtzer was committed to Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post the bail set. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 17.
