Police: Man assaults Pa. constable, attempts to escape
MIDDLEBURG — A 40-year-old man was charged in Snyder County after assaulting a constable and attempting to escape during a bench warrant transport, according to court documents.
Documents indicate that Troy N. Ullrich, of Youngwood, was being transported by a Pennsylvania constable to Union County on a bench warrant when Ullrich kicked the officer in the back of the head three times and attempted to get in the truck of the vehicle in an attempt to escape. Police reported the constable ordered Ullrich to stop kicking him, however Ullrich “remained unruly and violent during the transport.”
Documents further state that Ullrich said that he was getting out of the vehicle and began to kick the window. The constable reported deploying mace to stop Ullrich, which resulted in Ullrich’s compliance. However, police reported that Ullrich continued to be verbally belligerent.
Ullrich had a preliminary arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Richard Cashman, who set bail at $100,000. Ullrich was committed to Snyder County Correctional Facility and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 13 before Magisterial District Judge Lori Hackenberg.
