Rockettes show included in Centers in Motion line up

LEWISTOWN –Mifflin Juniata Area Agency on Aging Centers in Motion events for older adults, 55-plus, are scheduled as follows.

¯ Pumpkin Fall Flower Arrangement Class — Oct. 10, 10 a.m., Country Crossroads Senior Center in the Body and Soul Community Center, 205 Chestnut Ridge Road, McVeytown (former Strodes Mills Middle School). The instructor will be floral designer Jay Erbo, who will walk participants step-by-step through arranging fresh flowers in a pumpkin. Afterwards, participants may stay for the lunch served at the senior center.

The cost is a suggested donation of $15 per person for the flower arranging class. Lunch is a $1 donation. Reservation and payment deadline is Oct. 5. To register, call (717) 242-0315.

¯ Jack-O’-Lantern Jubilee –Oct. 16, 6 p.m., at Lewistown Senior Center, 515 B Knepp Ave., Lewistown. Design and decorate a pumpkin/jack-o’-lantern at home by carving, painting, or other means, and bring it in for a chance to win a prize. Judging will be done in three categories: scariest, prettiest, and the most creative.

There will also be a covered dish meal, and participants are asked to bring a covered dish to share. Designing a pumpkin is not mandatory, just bring a covered dish to join in the other activities and socialize.

¯ Facebook Technology Class — Oct. 25, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Lewistown Senior Center, 515B Knepp Ave., Lewistown. Instructor Jason Derr will provide information and instruction about Facebook, including posting, communicating, and uploading pictures. He will also cover Facebook permission levels and how it affects communicating and privacy. He will start the class with Tech Talk and explain how to navigate a Facebook page, offer hands-on assistance, and end the class with time for questions and one-on-one assistance. Computers will be provided for use during the class, although participants may bring their own laptops. Participants with Facebook accounts already set up are reminded to bring their passwords.

The cost is a suggested donation of $8 per person. Registration is required. Registration and payment deadline is Oct. 23. There must be at least five people registered, or class may be cancelled. To register, call (717) 242-0315.

¯ A Day of Thanks: Traditional Thanksgiving Meal — Doors open at 9 a.m., Nov. 13 at the 4 Seasons Senior Center, 47 CJEMS Lane, Mifflintown. There will be snacks in the morning, a Christmas decoration craft, entertainment and other activities.

¯ Basic Technology Class for Android Users –Nov. 29, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Lewistown Senior Center, 515B Knepp Ave., Lewistown (former Central Novelty Building). Instructor Jason Derrof will cover various topics of Android phone use including using apps, texting, taking photos and much more. He will start the class with Tech Talk and Hands-On help and will end with time for questions and one-on-one assistance. This class is for Android users only.

¯ Christmas Gathering — Dec. 4, doors open at 5:15 p.m., at the Milroy Senior Center, 283 Broad St., Milroy. Bring a dish to share. Ham will be provided. Come for the food, activities, entertainment, fun and socialization.

¯ Rockettes Show and Rockefeller Square, New York –Dec. 14.

Celebrate the holiday season in New York starting with the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular at Radio Music City Hall. These kick-lining dancers have been ringing in the holidays for more than 75 years, sharing the stage with Santa, the Nutcracker, and the Living Nativity. After the show, visit Rockefeller Square for some free time before seeing the world’s most famous Christmas tree.

Since the motor coach is restricted to how close it can get to Rockefeller Square and Radio City Music Hall, there will be walking involved, approximately 10 to 15 minutes to and from the drop-off and pick-up location. Drop-off and pick-up will be at the same location.

There will be two stops for meals: one for a late breakfast and one for a late dinner.

The cost is a suggested donation of $144, which includes transportation and the show. Meals are not included in the cost. Three payments of $48 may be made to help make the trip more affordable. The trip must be paid in full by Dec. 1, and no refunds will be available after Nov. 28. There are a limited number of ticket available.

The schedule is:

6:15 a.m. — Depart from Lewistown/Wal -Mart;

6:45 a.m. — Depart from Mifflintown /CJEMS ;

9:30 a.m. — Arrive at Clinton Station Dinner;

10:45 a.m. — Depart for Radio Music Hall;

1 p.m. — Arrive for Rockettes 2 p.m. show;

3:30 p.m. — Free time at Rockefeller Square;

6 p.m. — Depart at same location as drop off;

8:30 p.m. — Arrive at Love’s Travel center;

9 p.m. — Depart for home;

10:30 p.m. — Approximate return to Lewistown.
