Ready for the crown

Homecoming activities at Juniata High School will take place during halftime of the Juniata vs. Williams Valley football game on Sept. 21 at Dietrick Field. The homecoming queen candidates were selected by various extracurricular clubs at Juniata High School to represent academics, the arts, athletics, career and technical student organizations, and service organizations as well as a senior class representative.
The following senior candidates were selected:
Hart is the daughter of Jeff and Amy Hart of Mifflin. Hart was selected as the representative for the service organizations at Juniata and is enrolled in the college preparatory program. After graduation she plans to attend a 5-year physician assistant program. Her school activities include volleyball, track and field, SADD, Key Club, school musicals, art club, band, chorus and National Honor Society. Outside of school, Hart is a member of her church’s youth group and works as a lifeguard at Central Juniata Park Pool. Her escort for the evening will be Josh Whitesel, son of Jim and Amy Whitesel of Mifflintown.
Zendt is the daughter of Mike and Becca Zendt of Mifflintown. Zendt is the senior class representative and is enrolled in the college preparatory program at Juniata. Her plans after graduation are to attend a 4-year university. In school, she participates in soccer, basketball, track and field, National Honor Society, FFA, Student Council and band. Outside of school, she is a member of the First Baptist Church of Mifflintown and she works at Jack’s Drive In. Her escort for the evening will be Parker Noss, son of Lisa Stong of Port Royal and Alan Noss of Mifflin.
Haubrick is the daughter of Shannon Laird of Mifflintown and Randy Haubrick of Lewistown. Haubrick was chosen to represent HOSA and FFA and is enrolled in the career and technical program at Juniata. She plans to attend Harrisburg Area Community College after graduation to get her nurse’s license and become a registered nurse. Her activities include cheerleading, HOSA, SADD and student council. Outside of school, she works at McDonald’s. Her escort for the evening will be Austin Palm, son of Jim and Mindy Palm of Mifflintown.
Rowles is the daughter of Orvis and Diane Rowles of Port Royal. Rowles represents the National Honor Society and is enrolled in the college preparatory program at Juniata. She plans to attend a 4-year college and receive a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education. Her school activities include TEAM, marching and concert band, Tri-M, National Honor Society, SADD, cheerleading, track and field and Big 33 Cheer. Outside of school, she a veteran’s queen candidate for the Juniata County Veteran’s Council. Her escort for the evening will be Jessen Abram, son of Jeff and Joy Abram of Mifflintown.
Glick is the daughter of Neil and Gretchen Glick of Mifflintown. Glick was chosen to represent the music and arts program at Juniata and is enrolled in the college preparatory program. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in finance. Her school activities include marching and concert band, district and regional band, National Honor Society, TEAM and drama club. Outside of school, she is a member of her church’s youth group and works at Walnut Cheese Nook. Her escort for the evening will be Lawson Fitzgerald, son of Jim and Jodi Fitzgerald of Port Royal.
Dowling is the daughter of Jeff and Rachel Dowling of Mifflintown. Dowling is the Varsity Club representative and is enrolled in the college preparatory curriculum. She plans to attend nursing school to become a registered nurse after graduation. Her school activities include field hockey, softball, Varsity J, Scholastic J, National Honor Society, May Day attendant and senior class secretary. Laney attends Westminster Presbyterian Church. Her escort for the evening will be Chase Lehman, son of Dave and Amber Lehman of Port Royal.
The game begins at 7 p.m. and homecoming activities will commence at halftime. All alumni, friends of Juniata and community members are invited.
