Local restaurants support the United Way
LEWISTOWN –United Way of Mifflin-Juniata is organizing the 2018 Restaurant Week from Sept.10 through Sept. 16. With the help of the Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce, MCS Bank and the Lewistown Sentinel, the United Way is raising awareness of great local restaurants that support their community.
The goal of the Mifflin-Juniata United Way Restaurant Week is to showcase locally owned restaurants and to raise funds for local programs.
“Many cities and communities hold restaurant week on an annual basis to encourage people to try something new. We have a lot of great restaurants in Mifflin and Juniata counties so why not promote them and at the same time raise money towards our 2019 Campaign goal” said Oksana DeArment, executive director of United Way of Mifflin-Juniata.
Area restaurants were approached about the idea of holding restaurant week in two counties and many were excited to participate.
“I am very pleased with the first year participation” said DeArment.
Restaurants were asked to make a donation to the United Way in order to be a part of the 2018 Restaurant Week and to offer new items during that week. Restaurant week featured items for each location can be found on the United Way website.
DeArment added “It is great to see so many restaurant owners wanting to be a part of something new and exciting in our communities”.
The restaurants participating in Restaurant Week include the Bel-Vue Inn, Boulevard BBQ, Cora’s Creekside Tavern, Clubhouse Grill, Downtown OIP and Grille, JP Edwards, JP’s Restaurant in Mifflintown, Shy Bear Brewing, Smitty’s Sportsbar and Grill, The Original Italian Pizza in Burnham, The Original Italian Pizza in Port Royal, Wilderness Lodge and Wingman Brew-N-Que. Residents of Mifflin and Juniata counties are encouraged to come out and support the participating restaurants during the week of Sept. 10.
