The National Weather Service and Mid-Atlantic River Forecast Center has announced a flood warning for Mifflin County that is in effect until 10:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The Juniata River is expected to crest at 24 feet at around 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lewistown. Roadway flooding is expected in the following areas:

*The Kish Creek Center on South Main Street in Lewistown

*State Route 103 in the area of the sandflats.

*The entrance to the Locust Campground/development.

The flooding is expected to recede in the afternoon. Roads may be closed, depending upon the amount of water on the roads.

No evacuations are expected at this time. Residents in the affected areas should consider moving vehicles to adjacent parking areas or leaving home early/returning home slightly later than normal Tuesday.
