Fire companies join together to host concert

Event to feature the band FireHouse Saturday evening

LEWISTOWN–This Saturday, three local fire companies are banding together to host a firehouse concert –literally.

Beginning at 5 p.m. at the Malta Home in Granville, firemen from United Fire and Rescue, Granville Township and City Hook and Ladder will be hosting a benefit concert as part of their “Bands for Brotherhood” campaign, featuring the ’80s rock band, FireHouse. The event will also feature opening performances from local bands 3 Months Off and Frayed Nott. All proceeds from the concert will be distributed between the three fire companies.

According to Brandon Basom, president of United Fire and Rescue, this is the first concert that the companies have hosted, but they hope to continue the event annually. Basom also mentioned that the companies have been working for almost two years to bring FireHouse to Mifflin County by scheduling with the band’s tour manager, securing an event space and finding businesses to help sponsor the concert.

“We thought it would be a great way to bring [the companies] together and work together,” Basom said.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by contacting “Bands for Brotherhood” on Facebook or any of the three fire companies. The gates open at 3 p.m. with performances beginning at 5 p.m.
