Resurfacing work scheduled on Route 22 in Juniata County
MIFFLINTOWN – A resurfacing project on Route 22 in Juniata County is scheduled to begin Monday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Thursday. This project will improve ride quality and extend the life of approximately two miles of roadway surface in Walker and Delaware townships.
The work zone begins east of Thompsontown and continues to the Perry County line. Work will include concrete patching, resurfacing of the existing roadway, drainage improvements, guide rail installation, pavement markings and miscellaneous construction.
Long-term single lane closures will be in effect for the left (passing) lanes eastbound and westbound. Drivers are advised to remain alert for sudden stops as workers will be present in the roadway. Trucks will be delivering material into the closed lanes and motorists are reminded that they should not follow them into the closed lanes.
Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $1.9 million job, which is expected to be complete by November. Updates will be issued as the long-term single lane closures shift from the passing to the travel lanes. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
