Huntingdon county resident pleads guilty to two felony counts forgery

LEWISTOWN — Britney L. Hostrander, 22, of Mount Union, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one felony count forgery and one misdemeanour count accessing device unauthorized by user.

In February, Hostrander reportedly issued two checks from a bank account belonging to one of her tenants, totaling nearly $200, according to court documents. The victim told police the checks were used to purchase goods/services from two locations on February 20 and that the victim did not patronize either location on that date. Surveillance at one of the locations captured Hostrander passing one of the checks to an employee of the establishment, according to court documents. The victim advised police Hostrander did not have permission to withdraw funds from the checking account in question and reportedly said the victim’s signature on both checks had been forged.

President Judge David Barron sentenced Hostrander to a minimum of time-served and a maximum of 18 months incarceration. In addition to her parole, Hostrander is responsible to pay the costs of prosecution, $200 in fines and over $363 in restitution.
