Locust Grove Retirement Village resident Dorothy Hackenberger, second from left, celebrated her 105th birthday surrounded by family, friends and staff Friday afternoon at the facility. The family is holding a card shower for Dorothy on her birthday from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the activity room that is open to anyone who wants to celebrate with her. Dorothy was born Sept. 13, 1913, and is the mother of three daughters, Vivian, Grace and Ruth, and one son, James. She has 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Dorothy worked at the dress factory in Mexico until she was married to her now-deceased husband, Russell, on June 8, 1938. She was married to Russell for 72 years. Throughout her life, she has enjoyed sewing and baking and loves to color in adult coloring books.
