Mount Union woman withheld income info to obtain food stamps

HUNTINGDON–A 35-year-old woman was charged Monday with fraud-obtaining food stamps/assistance, according to court documents.

Patricia A. Wheeler, of Mount Union, reportedly failed to document a total household income of approximately $19,613 between January and September 2017, on an application and during an interview for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, according to court documents.

During her initial interview, Wheeler was apprised of her reporting responsibilities and signed an affidavit affirming that she would regularly and accurately report household composition, employment and income, according to court documents. From April to September 2017, Wheeler’s household was reportedly enrolled in SNAP as a result of her application and interview, receiving benefits totaling $3,696.00, according to court documents.

Wheeler is scheduled for a hearing on September 19 before Magisterial District Judge Rufus Brenneman.
