Man sought for deception charges

Multiple complaints filed between Mifflin and Juniata counties

LEWISTOWN — Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown, Mifflin County Regional Police Department and Granville Township Police Department are working together to apprehend Shawn L. Dippery, of Lewistown, for a total of 84 criminal counts, involving over 20 complainants in both Mifflin and Juniata counties, according to PSP Trooper Michael Elder.

Elder reported that Dippery, 46, had performed seal coating at the accusers’ homes in the past. Elder said Dippery had approached these same accusers looking for work and they each gave him money for the purchase of materials. Elder said Dippery took both cash and check deposits and never performed the seal coating.

Elder filed 45 charges against Dippery on Friday at two different magisterial district judges’ offices. Twenty-two charges are felonies in the third degree.

“I would ask (that) if anyone is a victim of this seal coating scam to please call and report it,” Elder said. “Also, if anyone knows the location of Mr. Dippery, please contact the police.”

Detective Jessica Aurand from MCRPD also filed charges Friday that included 36 criminal counts, six of which are third-degree felonies. According to a news release issued by MCRPD, Aurand is investigating incidents involving Dippery’s alleged scam in Mifflin County and asks that anyone claiming to have been scammed by Dippery should contact her at (717) 248-1900, ext. 633, or contact the Mifflin County communications center at (717) 248-9607.

In July, Nicholas Hamler, with Granville Township Police Department, filed three charges of theft by deception-false impression against Dippery. According to court documents, Dippery currently has a total of six cases filed against him in Mifflin County. Each case status is inactive, pending Dippery’s apprehension. There are currently active arrest warrants issued for Dippery, according to Elder.
