Lewistown Police Department

¯Assault–Lewistown police responded to an incident of assault that occurred at approximately 8:33 a.m. on April 25 on West Fifth St. in Lewistown.

According to the report, Kevin Curry, 49, was accused of assaulting a female victim. Curry was taken into custody and transported to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility.

¯Crash–Lewistown police responded to a one vehicle crash that occurred on April 26 on South Main St. in Lewistown.

According to the report, officers found that a vehicle operated by Elizabeth Swallow, of Lewistown, drove through a fence and into a backyard. The vehicle was later towed after becoming stuck. Swallow was also transported to Geisinger Lewistown Hospital for evaluation and is under investigation for driving impaired.

¯Drug possession–One woman was charged for drug possession following an incident that occurred at approximately 4:33 p.m. on April 27 on Valley St. in Lewistown.

According to the report, Lewistown police were dispatched to Valley St. for a report of a possibly intoxicated female leaning against a building and falling asleep. The female was identified as Melinda Zimmerman, 53, who had an active warrant against her from Huntingdon County on drug-related charges. During arrest, Zimmerman was also found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Zimmerman was then taken into custody and placed in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility.

¯Hit and run–Lewistown police investigated a hit and run incident that occurred on April 28 in the 100 block of Chestnut St.

According to the report, an Impala vehicle struck a parked, 2016 Malibu owned by Rose Breiner, 58, of Lewistown. Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact Lewistown police.

¯Hit and run–Lewistown police were dispatched to West Market St. in Lewistown at approximately 12:33 p.m. on April 28 for a report of a hit and run.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers were informed that a white female operating a white hatch back had struck an unattended, brown SUV, causing damage. During investigation, Taylor Speck, 26, of Lewistown, returned to the scene and admitted to striking the SUV and leaving. Officers later found that Speck did not have driver’s license and her operating privileges were suspended. The registered owner of Speck’s vehicle, Matthew Baxter, 52, of McVeytown, was also charged with permitting an unauthorized person to drive.

¯Public drunkenness–Lewistown police investigated an incident of public drunkenness that occurred at approximately 4:49 a.m. on April 29 on Chestnut St. in Lewistown.

According to the report, a complainant stated that her boyfriend was throwing items in their home. Marcus Snyder, 26, of Lewistown, was observed on the sidewalk with his hands raised as police arrived on scene. According to officers, Snyder was emitting heavy odors of alcoholic beverages. Snyder was later arrested and taken to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility on charges of public drunkenness, harrassment and subjecting the complainant to unwanted physical contact.

¯Drug possession–PSP Lewistown conducted a traffic stop on March 30 that resulted in charges for drug possession on March 30 on Bratton Ave. in Lewistown.

Sean Jabs, 28, of Lewistown, was charged for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

¯Harassment–PSP Lewistown received a report of harassment via social media on April 23 that occurred on Industrial Park Road in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County.

According to the report, investigation revealed that a 62 year old male punched a 43 year old male in the face following an exchange in the parking lot of Heller’s Gas. Charges were filed following the incident.

¯Theft–PSP Lewistown investigated a theft that occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on April 23 in Mifflintown, Juniata County.

According to the report, Ashleigh Knight, 26, of Harrisburg, attempted to steal a vehicle and stole the keys of a second vehicle. Knight was also found in possession of drug paraphernalia.

¯Crash–PSP Lewistown responded to a single vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:26 p.m. on April 24 on Route 35 in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County.

James Delong, 19, of Middleburg, was traveling in a 1994 Ford F350 when he attempted to exit a Sheetz parking lot and struck an overhead light pole. The vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front and was towed from the scene. Delong was reported wearing his seat belt and was uninjured in the crash.

¯Drug possession–One man was charged for drug possession following an incident that occurred on 5:05 p.m. on April 27 in Granville Township, Mifflin County.

Shane Dubusky, 24, of Mount Joy, was found to have active warrants out of Lancaster County and was also found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Charges were later filed through District Court.

¯Crash–PSP Lewistown responded to a two vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 4:37 p.m. on April 28 on William Penn Highway in Walker Township, Juniata County.

Ryan Matos Solaris, 26, of Port Royal, was traveling in a 2001 Mazda behind another vehicle operated by Aaron Swarey, 30, of Mifflintown, when Swarey began to slow down to attempt to turn left into his driveway. Matos Solaris failed to slow down and struck Swarey’s vehicle. Both vehicles rolled an unknown amount of times before coming to final rest on the right shoulder of William Penn Highway.

Matos Solaris and his passenger, Amanda Hawkins, 28, of Port Royal, were both reported wearing their seat belts and were uninjured in the crash. Swarey and his passengers, Sally Swarey, 21, of Mifflintown, and a two year old child, were all reported wearing seat belts and safety restraints, but were transported by Thompsontown Ambulance League for treatment of suspected minor injuries. Matos Solaris was charged following the incident.
