¯Nittany Valley benefit dinner –noon to 8 p.m., May 25, 125 Fire House Lane, Howard. Dinner to feature traditional Amish home cooked wedding style meal. Reserve tickets are encouraged for the eight time slots. Adults, $18; seniors (65 and older), $16; children (11-17), $16; children (5-10), $5; children (4 and under), free when accompanied by adults. Proceeds from the meal and auction help offset the medical expenses for families within the community in time of need.

¯Community Shred Day–8 a.m. – 12 noon, Geisinger Lewistown Hospital Parking Lot E, across from the Surgical Entrance (Green Roof.) Members of the community are invited to bring confidential, personal and financial documents, such as bank statements, credit card bills and tax forms, to be securely shredded on-site and recycled. ¯Walk-A-Thon– 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Kish Park. Schrader United Methodist Church will holding its first walk with all proceeds to benefit a youth, mission outreach trip to Mifflin County in June, from Cherryville UMC of North Carolina. Goal of trip is to improve the community through minsterial duties, such as yard work, painting, minor building repairs, wheel chair ramps and more. ¯Keystone State Muscle Cars weekly cruise in — 5-8:30 p.m., Milroy exit off of Route 322, across from Tom’s Service Plaza. All events are free and all cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc. are welcome.

¯Pennsylvania’s Venomous Snakes presentation–7:30 p.m., Greenwood Furnace Campground Amphitheater. In this conservation-oriented program, presented by Greg Line, you will learn about the role of snakes in the environment, and why it is important to protect snakes, especially our venomous ones. This program includes live specimens of both non-venomous and venomous snakes in a safe and controlled setting. ¯McVeytown Lions Club Memorial Day parade and service–10 a.m., parade route starts at McVeytown Public Library and ends at center of town. Service will follow end of parade. Speaker will be Nancy Simmons, retired Navy captain. In case of rain, events will be held at the McVeytown Methodist Church.
