Variety of items on the block for SHS auction

LEWISTOWN — Sacred Heart Parish and School announce that the 20th annual Benefit Auction will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, at the Mifflin County Youth Park in Reedsville.

Just a few of the many auction items include a queen size hand-stitched quilt, high-end 1940 Zenith Model 12S568E console radio, two Pittsburgh Steelers preseason football tickets, Hammond Super T Spinet Line Organ Model No. 212-1, Lionel Steam Train with cars, track and transformer, antique grey graniteware and wooden handmade items.

In addition, each class has created a one-of-a-kind project, as well as two large class baskets.

There will also be various personal items, household goods, plants and handmade crafts.

The silent auction will include gift certificates from numerous area businesses, restaurants and tourist attractions.

The auction schedule is as follows:

11 a.m. — preview the auction items and food stand;

11 a.m.-3 p.m. –silent auction bidding;

1 p.m. — live auction begins.

In addition to the auction, there will be a chicken barbecue and other food, such as SHS signature sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, french fries and baked goods available.

Children’s activities include pony rides, bounce house and face painting.

Bring a chair and plan to stay for the entire day. Enter for a chance to win $1,000 at the cash raffle.

New to the auction this year will be a spaghetti dinner and preview night from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, at the Mifflin County Youth Park. Tickets are available in advance at the Sacred Heart Parish Office on 9 N. Brown St. in Lewistown. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Ages 2 and under are free. Dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread and dessert.

Proceeds from the auction will go to benefit Sacred Heart School’s scholarship fund.
