Out and a trout

Sentinel photo by BUFFIE BOYER

Autumn Fronk, left, and Dakota Strong, both fifth graders at Thompsontown-Delaware Elementary School, empty buckets of trout into Delaware Creek at the J.E. Bowen Jr. AmVets Post 122 in Thompsontown, Tuesday, as part of the school’s annual trout release program. The school’s participation in the Trout in the Classroom program was made possible by Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commissioner, Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited and Pennsylvania Department of Education environment and ecology. This partnership provides funding, workshops, Brook Trout eggs and food, as well as curriculum and technical support for all registered TIC classrooms. Due to the school’s trout dying, Trout Unlimited provided 100 trout for the release.
