Man facing 3 counts of child pornography

MIFFLINTOWN — A 28-year-old man was arrested Friday after pornographic images of a person or people younger than the age of 18 were found on a computer he allegedly was using in Fermanagh Township, according to court documents.

Joseph Thom, of Plymouth, New Hampshire and formerly of Lewistown, was arraigned on Friday before Magisterial District Judge Barbara Lyter and is being charged with three counts of child pornography, a third-degree felony.

According to court documents, state police were called to investigate an incident at 47 CJEMS Lane on Dec. 5, after learning that child pornographic images were discovered on a computer at that location.

Investigation showed that Thom had been at that location and had access to a computer from the evening of Nov. 23 to the morning of Nov. 24 and was logged into his Google account. The information was verified through Google and the IP address for the login was verified to belong to the scene.

According to court documents, witnesses on scene accessed the computer during the evening of Nov. 24 and found that Thom’s Google account was still open on the computer. Witnesses reported observing three videos on Thom’s Google account which depicted children younger than the age of 18 engaged in prohibited sexual acts.

The ages of the allegedly involved children were not revealed.

Thom is awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday. Bail was set at $75,000.
